New Beginnings
Who is Jesus? Why did he die?
How can I be sure of my faith?
Why and how should I read the bible?
Why and how do I pray? How does God guide us?
Who is the Holy Spirit? What does it do?
How can I resist evil?
Does God heal today?
What about the church?
How can I make the most of the rest of my life?
How would you answer these questions or explain the answers to someone else if asked? Some us, who have been going to church all our lives (or part of it), may feel we have never really grasped the basics of the Christian faith or never really experienced the love of God for ourselves. I recently read an interesting quote by Bob Buford, an American businessman who has run the Leadership Network. He said, “For many people, going to church is like going to a movie that is halfway through. Nobody ever tells them what happened in the first half of the movie.” Alpha is like the bridge which tells people what happened in the fi rst half of the movie so they can understand the rest of it.
Many of us know the Alpha course is very helpful to those exploring Christianity and new Christians. However, it can also serve as the catalystfor a new beginning for those who have been “in the church”. If you want to explore these questions or better understand the fi rst half of the movie, join us this Sunday evening for a new beginning. After all, our God is a God of new beginnings and fresh starts. Please give me or Deanna Gorden a call at 881-6800 to register!
