Being Inspirational
This past weekend, I was privileged to hear excellent people in leadership at a conference. They came from the secular world as well as the church. Though perspectives varied, there were many truths that I found throughout their presentations that I think are important for us to remember as we enter into the fall at Schweitzer.
Bill Hybels, Senior Pastor at Willow Creek Community Church, challenged us to live an inspired life - a life that motivates and calls others to move forward. He offered the following ways in which to do so:
· Stay crystal clear about your calling from God. Stay on your knees enough to get your vision clarified.
· Make sure you know and understand your spiritual gifts
· Surround yourself with people who give you a positive, emotional jolt
· Read the right books
· Make it a point to rub shoulders with especially inspiring people
· Pay attention to physical and spiritual disciplines
Perhaps the most important statement Hybels made is that we are to be responsible for our own spiritual development. No one can do it for you. In the coming months, Schweitzer will be offering many opportunities for you to increase your connection to God through Jesus Christ. Pray now that you will make your spiritual growth a priority. Plan now to find the time.
