Bob’s Perceptions

It’s great being back with you at Schweitzer after being in and out a lot this summer. Several of you have asked: What did you do during your time away? Here are a few things I got to do. I spent a few weeks with my mom, taking her to see the St. Louis Cardinals as she wanted to see the new stadium. I also helped her make the transition of moving from her own home into assisted living. It wasn’t a move she was looking forward to but one which was necessary and thankfully is going very well.
I was honored to participate in the committal service of Susan’s grandfather, Herb Greve. Herb was a remarkable man who overcame a lot of adversity in his 98 years. He always met life’s challenges with courage and grace. The trip to NYC with the High School Youth Choir was a blast. Attending Broadway plays, visits to famous sites such as the Brooklyn Bridge, the World Trade Center, Time Square and Yankee Stadium were lots of fun. I think I actually enjoyed the national museum of arts most of all. My family and I also spent a week in Florida at a Christian Healing Ministries seminar. In addition to learning more about physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing, we were also given the opportunity to receive and participate in prayer for others and receive prayer for ourselves. Susan and I also got to spend a few days of relaxation at the lake house of friends. I spent the better part of one week at an abbey where I worshiped, read, prayed and wrote the sermon series Decoding Your Faith which we started last weekend.
I hope you will be able to join us Saturday nights or Sunday mornings as we continue the Decoding Your Faith series about signifi cant biblical foundational faith concepts. I hope as we worship this weekend, grace is not merely a concept we talk about but something we experience together at Schweitzer. --Bob
