Our Middle School students arrived late Sunday night from a trip to the Heifer Ranch in Perryville, Arkansas. It was an incredibly insightful retreat. We stayed in huts that simulated the conditions in poverty conditions unlike any we had ever seen. For dinner, we had to get a fire going and make a meal out of a couple eggs, cornmeal, a few raw veggies, rice (not the instant kind) and a couple real fish. Needless to say, we didn’t eat much. But it did help us to realize that we have a great deal and need to be generous with what we have. Do you realize how much you have? If not, take a trip to Heifer Ranch and they can help you put things in perspective like they did for us.
