Spring Finally Arrives!
As I was walking around the yard early this morning with my dogs, listening to the birds and enjoying the budding of the trees, it hit me -- spring is finally here! This winter seemed unusually long with temperatures dipping and soaring for months. We’ve had ice, snow, sleet, rain, flooding, tornadoes, hurricane force winds -- you name it, we had it. Now we have red buds and dogwoods, tulips and daffodils, green grass and cardinals (the real red birds). Through it all God has been working.
During the long winter we have had wonderful worship, people coming to faith, fifteen confirmands professing their belief in Jesus Christ, several baptisms, growing ministries, new ministries, new staff, weddings, and funerals. God has blessed us abundantly with a healthy church, moving closer and closer to Jesus Christ.
Last night many of us had a great time at Trivia Night. Sponsored by Schweitzer Youth as a fundraiser for their mission trip to Beaumont Texas, somewhere around 400 people packed the gym. It was a wonderful opportunity for our church family to share with many from our community the joy and fellowship found at Schweitzer.
What will God be doing with us next? Are you ready? As spring unfolds, I invite you to join me in praying for our church family, for the influence we can have for Christ in the Springfield community, and for the unlimited possibilities that exist to serve and love one another.
Happy Spring! --Lori
