Thanksgiving Memories

Next week brings back a lot of memories for me. When I was a kid, we would pack up and head to Oklahoma for the week; that’s where my grandmother lived. My brothers and I would sleep on the pull out couch in the living room and fight over the remote control. The next morning all the guys would go quail hunting and my Dad would equip me with the mildest BB gun he could find. We would get back around lunch time and clean up for a meal that usually encompassed three tables.

I remember feeling so mature the year I was asked to sit at the adult table and not the kids table. And, of course, lunch was followed by football games and the traditional “snore-off” between my dad and his brother, good times!

Thanksgiving is a time to give God all the glory for the abundance in our lives. Next week, during your holiday break (hopefully), take time to give God “thanks” for all he has blessed you with. Take twenty minutes alone or with other family and bless God in prayer for how he has blessed you and your loved ones this year and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
