What's Up?
What isn’t? It is a busy time of year for many of us! Spring is on the horizon and we are beginning to come out of our winter cocoons. Spring break is here which means extra activities for many folks. And, hey, it’s once again time to follow, and watch, “the boys of summer”—the red team!
Holy Week is upon us. We are having a Good Friday Worship Service, Easter Children’s Celebration on Saturday and Worship Services at 8:20, 9:45 and 11:00 on Sunday. We are planning to bring our “Nets” back to church with us this Sunday as we provide relief from malaria for the children of Africa. What an awesome sight it will be to see the sea of blue nets beneath the crosses located just outside the sanctuary this Sunday! Yes, we can make a difference!
We are planning a new sermon series and small groups for the 5 weeks following Easter entitled “Life U!”. Plan to join us as we do “the school of life together” and study the Gospel of Matthew, Chapters 5 through 7. In this study, we will go deeper into Jesus’ rich teaching also known as The Sermon on the Mount. Check out the bulletin insert this weekend -- we’re offering small groups nearly every night of the week and some during the day. Sign up for a group this weekend!
Leadership Schweitzer is coming up in several weeks. On the eve of Friday, April 11th and Saturday, the 12th, Reverend Sue Nelson Kibbey will share inspirational insight and practical advice for effective and dynamic ministry leadership. Sue has written an incredibly insightful book entitled Ultimately Responsible. Many of you are planning to join us for this event and I am excited for you, and us, to gain more of Sue’s teaching and wisdom.
Now, with all of this good stuff mentioned above (and much more not listed) that is occurring around us, let’s remember to keep Christ in the center—and His resurrection story in front of us. His resurrection, also known as “the pivot of history,” has forever changed the world and our lives—for the good! Out of what seemingly is a tragic story, death and sin are conquered and we gain a life of forgiveness, hope and the promise of life eternal. God is indeed amazing and good! See you this weekend!
