Proposed Building Plans

Since the March 1, 2009 election of the Building Committee at a Church Conference, much work has been done and great excitement has been generated. The Building Committee was charged with the following task:

To pursue options for the usage of the Motor Cars Property, the usage of our current facilities/properties and possible building expansion and land acquisition to address the growing ministry needs of Schweitzer United Methodist Church. The committee will present plans and make recommendations to the church in future conferences.

The Building Committee has been in collaboration with the architectural firm of Creative Ink in order to develop a preliminary plan to address the above task. The expert work of Bob Stockdale, lead architect of Creative Ink and his associate Nathan Rapp have led to an incredibly well designed plan that we are eager to share with you and receive your input.

According to the United Methodist Book of Discipline, a Church Conference will be called in order to vote on continuing forward with possible expansion and renovation. Prior to that conference on October 11, 2009 at 2:00, two Town Hall meetings will be held to share the outcome of the previous six months of work.

We invite all in the congregation to attend one of the Town Hall meetings being held on Sunday, September 27, at 2:00 p.m. or Thursday, October 1, at 6:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall. The Building Committee will be joined by Stockdale and Rapp for the presentations. The format will include a description of the steps that have been taken to bring us to this point, a presentation of the preliminary plans and the rationale behind many of the decisions. We will also be sharing estimated costs of the first phase of the project followed with a time for questions and answers. An evaluation form will be available to receive your written input as well.

Why do we do this? Because we are called to transform lives by making disciples of Jesus Christ and God is blessing us as we seek to fulfill that mission.

Please join us. It is vital to our future as a church and as servants of our Lord that together we look to the future.
